Lets start stripping

Lets start stripping

First i have removed all the dusty body parts, they will be cleaned in the last stage.
After a hour of tinkering, the bike began to loosen weight from all kind of parts and liquids.

Filthy carburetors.

Unfortunately, the bike had more owners in the past who thought to be a mechanic.
Multible screws are damaged or missing.

To keep all the nuts and bolts separated, i wrote down where they come from.
Hopefully i'll know, by the time i mount the parts again, where they where coming from.

A new home

A new home

After the way back from the place where i picked my (new) vfr up, he gets finally a new home.
The next couple of weeks or months he will be standing in my garage, next to his big brother a Honda VFR750 RC36-1 from 1990.

The advertisement

On a dutch local new/secondhand sale-website, i saw a advertisement for a Honda VFR400R.
The price suggested that the engine would not run, but that was just what i searching for.
I called the owner and made a appointment to have a look.
The VFR was just what the pictures did suspect, a dusty bike with a flat tire and blocking brakes.
Finally we made a deal and i was a very happy VFR400R owner!

I have made these pictures at the pick up.

Tied the bike up on my trailer.
When i arrived home i noticed that the seat was loose, luckily it didnt fall af during the way back.
